Amtrak Service Between Philadelphia, Allentown, and Scranton

Two of the biggest metropolitan areas in the United States without intercity rail in the United States are in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. This project aims to address this by extending passenger rail from Philadelphia’s 30th St. Station through Allentown up to Scranton.

The project would help alleviate traffic from one metropolitan area to another. It will also be a great help to college students, granting easier access to the University of Scranton, St. Joseph’s University, and Temple University, among others. It would also connect Lehigh Valley and SWB to the rest of the Northeast Corridor, making travel to areas like Washington, D.C. (and its universities and tourist sites) far easier.
