Amtrak Service Between Binghamton, Scranton, and New York City

Amtrak service between Binghamton, Scranton, and New York City has been proposed for roughly a decade. This project is similar to the Lackawanna Cut-off Restoration Project, except it would extend to Binghamton, New York, and utilize Amtrak service instead of NJ Transit. This would restore intercity rail service to both Binghamton and Scranton.

This proposal has been endorsed by Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Bob Casey, and Chuck Schumer and former President Barack Obama.

The stations would be in Binghamton, Scranton, and New York City.

At this time, state support (both New York and Pennsylvania) is crucial for the progress of this project.
